SNOW DAY!!!!!!!!!!

To be honest, I’m more than surprised to be home today. And knowing it last night only made things better! I guess maybe someone somewhere doesn’t want to hear all the parent complaints. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that today’s complaints will be that they called it too *soon* and parents had to take the day off, blah blah blah. What a lesson in you can’t please everyone.

So now…what to do with my day? I’m not lacking in options: I have grading, I have a paper to write, my house is pretty damn dirty. If the roads hold up down south, I have to go pick up Megan, so all this wondering might be a moot point.

It’s awfully nice to be sitting here in my pajamas, sipping coffee, watching trashy daytime tv and catching up on the internet world, though. I could think of a few worse ways to spend my time.

Here’s to hoping none of the snow melts at French Field today! I’d be lying if I told you I wanted to go stand in the cold windy snow all day tomorrow at our track meet.

I’m still here

I’m just very quiet.

And looking forward to spring break starting tomorrow at 3:10 pm. While heading to Disney World with 14 teenagers might sound like a nightmare to most, I am looking forward to it even more than they are. 80 degree weather. Humidity. Sunshine that actually feels good on my skin. Shorts. T-shirts. Mickey Mouse. My husband.

What could be better?

Well, I suppose taking my own kids would be better, but Megan is not missing a week of school for all things Disney and Ryan is just too little to keep up with the frantic pace we will be maintaining for five days. So instead, Megan will be slaaaaaaaaaaving away at school (Mom, I’m just SO mad at you for not taking me. Boo frickin’ hoo, kid. Get your math grade up.) while Ryan will be eating all the junk food and snacks I stocked the house with tonight for her and our housesitter.

I’ll miss them. I can’t lie, though – I need the break. I need the air. I need the time. I need the overpriced food and drink, the cheesy souvenir photo ops, the lining up to get my picture taken with Sleeping Beauty after stalking her and her prince through the park, the fastpasses, the 2-hour wait when you forget to GET a fastpass, the lunch meeting with a dear friend I met on the internet.

Catch you all on the flip side.
